Bob Lucas was awarded a Purple Heart for serving in Vietnam as a United States Marine. He retired after 30 years as a Senior Administrator with G.T.E. As a recurrent employee, he functions as the facilities manager for the City’s Lifeguard Headquarters and Marine Safety Education Center. Bob is an extremely dedicated employee who takes pride in his work. He always displays an excellent attitude and frequently looks for ways to improve our workplace.
Bob has strong work habits. He is always very early for work and flexible with scheduling. Bob has expanded his responsibilities to include HQ, JGHQ, Tower Zero, vehicles, vessels, in addition to mechanical maintenance and repair.
Bob is well-liked by his co-workers and his work ethic serves as a positive example for our younger guards. Bob never stops working and requires virtually no supervision. He is willing to do whatever is asked of him.
Although not a part of his assigned duties, Bob brings his personal tools to work and uses his own money to stock the first aid room with candy for children who sustain injuries. He also treats all the lifeguards to an annual 4th of July BBQ. Bob buys all the food and drinks and then serves as the chef. Most would agree that Bob the Marine Safety Division’s best employee.
