Gretchen Erickson has been employed with the City of Huntington Beach for eight years as she began her career with the City’s Public Works Department in 2008 as an Office Assistant II and was promoted to Administrative Secretary in 2012.
Gretchen oversees the day to day functions of the City Yard Administration Office. A few of her most important duties include working with Supervisors and Risk Management to coordinate employee safety training, working with Front Desk staff to ensure Work Orders are completed in a timely manner, and reviewing policies, procedures and codes to ensure compliance. Her favorite part of the job is responding to Surf City Pipeline Requests for Maintenance Operations & General Services as each one presents a unique need that is important to an individual citizen’s quality of life. She prides herself on providing friendly and thorough service via the online system as well as by phone and in person. She is currently studying for her Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification to further expand her knowledge base.
She enjoys rallying her (sometimes reluctant) co-workers to participate in numerous City and charitable events such as the Marine 3/1 5k Race, the Civic Center Chili Cook Off & BBQ, the Fourth of July Parade, the annual Employee Halloween Breakfast and the Light a Light of Love Parade.
Gretchen is a proud Huntington Beach resident for nearly 15 years and enjoys raising her three sons in a City full of abundant opportunities for family fun like Bauer Park, Huntington Central Park & Library, and Huntington Dog Beach. She can often be found spending her evenings and weekends at the City Gym, Edison Community Center and Murdy Park cheering for her children during their sports activities.
