The Huntington Beach Children’s Needs Task Force, together with the City of Huntington Beach, is accepting nominations for the 17th annual American Youth Character Awards® program to honor young people who are the real heroes and proper role models for their generation. Young people benefit from examples of good decision making in a world fraught with pressures, temptations and bad examples. They need to know that they can become admired heroes simply on the strength of their character.
Anyone that is not an immediate family member can nominate a praiseworthy individual by completing the Youth Nomination Form and attaching a brief statement describing the facts that support the nominee as an example of good character. Nominees must be in grades 3-12 and reside in the City of Huntington Beach. Only individual nominations are accepted. Group nominations are not eligible. The Huntington Beach Fire Department conducts free home fire safety inspections for seniors. You can also get a free smoke detector with a 10 year battery and carbon monoxide detector installed. This free service is provided by Project SHIP senior home inspection program volunteers. You can schedule an appointment online or call 714-374-1615.
