Public Comments – the Public Works Commission welcomes public comments on all items on this agenda or of community interest.  Three minutes per person, time may not be donated to others.  Commission on this date can take no action on any item not on the agenda.  This is the time to address Commission regarding items of interest or agenda items other than public hearings.  Communications on agenda items will be scheduled such that public comments may be received as close to 5:00 p.m. as possible.

E-1.     2008 Traffic Commissioners Workshop – The 2008 Traffic Commissioners Workshop will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona.

INFORMATION ITEMS

 

F-1.      Active Capital Project Report – An update on active capital projects is presented for the Commission’s information.  Project information, including description, location maps and funding sources can be found in the FY 2007/08 Capital Improvement Program notebook, or on the city’s website under Current Budget information--What’s New.  

F-2.      Upcoming City Council Study Sessions - The City Council conducts public Study Sessions on the evenings of City Council meetings, normally beginning at 4:00 p.m., in Room B-8.  A tentative listing of upcoming sessions is submitted for the Commission’s information. 

F-3.      Proposed Capital Improvement Program FY 2008/09 Street and Neighborhood Improvements – Presentation regarding development process for streets and neighborhood annual capital improvements.

ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS

 

G-1.    Increase Construction Change Order Limit for the Downtown Water Main Replacement Project, CC1283     - An increase to the construction change order limit, 15% to 25%, for the Downtown Water Main Replacement Project, CC1283,  with Williams Pipeline Contractor Inc., is necessary to complete the project.

Funding Source:     Funds are budgeted and available in the Water Master Plan Improvements Account 50791017.82100.

Recommended Action:  Motion to recommend to the City Council to increase previously authorized 15% construction change order limit to 25% for CC1283.

G-2. Advertise Sewer Lift Station #26 Rebuild, CC-1277 - Plans and specifications for Sewer Lift Station #26 Rebuild CC1277, are in final preparation.   Staff requests recommendation of this project to the City Council.

Funding Source:     Funds are budgeted in the Sewer Service Charge Fund, Sewer Lift Station 51189001.  The engineer’s cost estimate for this project is $2,100,000 for the construction of Lift Station #26.

Recommended Action:  Motion to recommend to the City Council Sewer Lift Station #26 Rebuild, CC-1277.

G-3.   Street Lighting Upgrade and Replacement Pacific Coast Highway – 11th Street to Main Street (CC-1266) - Plans and specifications are in final preparation for the modifications of the street lighting system along Pacific Coast Highway between 11th Street and Main Street.  Staff requests support of the capital project prior to advertisement for competitive bids.

Funding Source:       Funds totaling $1,000,000 have been appropriated in the current budget year for the upgrading and replacement of street lighting in the downtown area.  The funding amount also includes other roadway segments for street lighting upgrades in addition to this segment on Pacific Coast Highway.  Funding is from the Redevelopment Agency Account 30590006.82700.  The engineer’s construction cost estimate for this project (CC-1266) is $94,000.

Recommended Action:  Motion to recommend to the City Council the modifications to the street lighting system along Pacific Coast Highway between 11th Street and Main Street.
