Public Comments – the Public Works Commission welcomes public comments on all items on this agenda or of community interest.  Three minutes per person, time may not be donated to others.  Commission on this date can take no action on any item not on the agenda.  This is the time to address Commission regarding items of interest or agenda items other than public hearings.  Communications on agenda items will be scheduled such that public comments may be received as close to 5:00 p.m. as possible.

Fiscal Year 2009/10 CIP Project Reviews

F. INFORMATION ITEMS

F-1.     Active Capital Project Report – An update on active capital projects is presented for the Commission’s information.  Project information, including description, location maps and funding sources can be found in the FY 2008/09 Capital Improvement Program notebook, or on the city’s website under Current Budget information--What’s New.  

F-2.     Upcoming City Council Study Sessions - The City Council conducts public Study Sessions on the evenings of City Council meetings, normally beginning at 4:00 p.m., in Room B-8.  A tentative listing of upcoming sessions is submitted for the Commission’s information.  

G. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS

G-1.   2008/09 Arterial Rehabilitation Projects, Phase 2, CC-1341 - Plans and specifications for the 2008/09 Arterial Rehabilitation Projects, Phase 2, CC-1341 are in final preparation.  Staff is seeking support for the project and the initiation of the competitive bid process.

Funding Source:  Funds are budgeted in the Proposition 1B, Account No. 21890008.82300 and Gas Tax, Account No. 20790008.82300, Arterial Rehabilitation.  The engineer’s cost estimate for these projects is $3,900,000.

Recommended Action:   Motion to recommend to the City Council, the 2008/09 Arterial Rehabilitation Project, Phase 2, CC-1341.

G-2.   Slater Avenue Arterial Rehabilitation Project, CC-1359 - Plans and specifications for the Slater Avenue Arterial Rehabilitation Project, CC-1359 is in final preparation.  Staff is seeking support for the project and the initiation of the competitive bid process.

Funding Source:  Funds are available in the amount of $1,770,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) federal grant.  The engineer’s cost estimate for this project is $1,550,000.

Recommended Action:   Motion to recommend to the City Council, the Slater Avenue Arterial Rehabilitation Project, CC-1359.

G-3.   City Yard Slope Repair, CC-1336 - Plans and specifications for the City Yard Slope Repair, CC-1336 are in final preparation.  Staff is seeking support for the project and the initiation of the competitive bid process.

Funding Source:     Funds are budgeted in the City Yard Improvements Account No. 31487002.  The engineer’s cost estimate for this project is $250,000.

Recommended Action:   Motion to recommend to the City Council the City Yard Slope Repair, CC-1336.
