Public Comments – the Public Works Commission welcomes public comments on all items on this agenda or of community interest.  Three minutes per person, time may not be donated to others.  Commission on this date can take no action on any item not on the agenda.  This is the time to address Commission regarding items of interest or agenda items other than public hearings.  Communications on agenda items will be scheduled such that public comments may be received as close to 12:00 p.m., or later, as possible.

 

E. DIRECTOR’S ITEMS

E-1. Follow-up on Revised Residential Street Tree Petition Process - City Council directed staff to review the Residential Street Tree Petition process and recommend possible modifications that would ensure streets are prioritized based on relative need, while also providing equity to those streets that have been waiting a long time for corrective improvements.  The evaluation and ranking of all the petition streets has now been completed.

F. INFORMATION ITEMS

F-1. Active Capital Project Report – An update on active capital projects under construction, as well as those in the planning stage, is presented for the Commission's information.

F-2. Upcoming City Council Study Sessions - The City Council conducts public Study Sessions on the evenings of City Council meetings, normally beginning at 4:00 p.m., in Room B-8.  A tentative listing of upcoming sessions is submitted for the Commission’s information. 

F-3. Citywide Bridge Study -   Staff is in the process of completing a Citywide Bridge Study.  The Study includes the inspection of the bridges with recommendations for maintenance, rehabilitation, or replacement. 
           
           

G. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS

G-1. Brookhurst Street Median Landscape Enhancement, CC-1288 - Plans and Specifications for the Brookhurst Street Median Landscape Enhancement, CC-1288 are in final preparation.  Staff requests the Commission’s recommendation of this project to the City Council.  

Funding Source:     Funds for this project are budgeted from Gas Tax, CDBG, and TEA grant monies.  The engineer’s cost estimate for this project is $574,000.

Recommended Action:  Recommend the Brookhurst Street Median Landscape Enhancement, CC-1288 to the City Council.

 

G-2. Sewer Service Charge Adjustment for 2007/08 - The Huntington Beach Municipal Code requires an annual adjustment to the Sewer Service Charge.  The Commission’s concurrence is requested in recommending the proposed charge for City Council approval.

Funding Source:  Estimated service charge revenue for 2007-08 is $7.16 million.

Recommended Action:  Concur with staff’s request to recommend that the Council approve the proposed sewer service charge adjustment.

 

G-3. Capital Improvement Program Fiscal Year 2007/08 - The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for Fiscal Year 2007/08 has been prepared and will be submitted for adoption with the City’s annual budget, subject to the recommendation of the Public Works Commission.

Funding Source:     Project funding sources are included in the CIP document.

Recommended Action:  Provide review and comment and recommend the proposed FY 2007/08 CIP to City Council.
