The Economic Development Committee (EDC) is a City Council sub-committee assigned to offer early input on projects that impact the City's business development, real estate, housing or related projects/programs. The Committee is composed of the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and past Mayor.
The City established the EDC to allow staff to receive input and suggestions on programs and projects that impact the City's business development, real estate, housing or related projects/programs and to ensure efforts are coordinated in a proactive manner. The group meets monthly, unless there are no items of business. In addition to the City Council members, City Manager's Office, Office of Business Development, and Community Development regularly attend the meetings. Police, Public Works, and Community Services attend as needed. Both the Chamber of Commerce and Visit Huntington Beach are invited to participate.
The EDC holds regular monthly public meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM in the Conference Room 2 at the Civic Center located at 2000 Main Street, Fourth Floor. All meetings are open to the public and special meetings may be called in conformance with the Ralph M. Brown Act.
The public is encouraged to come and participate with comments up to 3 minutes at the beginning of the agenda.
