Our Motocyle Officers ride the Honda ST1300P Police Motorcyle.
The Traffic/Aero Bureau is commanded by a Police Lieutenant and consists of 1 Motorcycle Sergeant, 1 Accident Investigation Sergeant, 2 Accident Investigation Officers, and 14 Motorcycle Officers. Additionally, there are 15 full time parking control officers monitoring parking meters and enforcing street sweeping and other parking problems within the city.
The primary function of the Traffic/Aero Bureau is to provide for safe movement of traffic within the City of Huntington Beach.
Our Motorcycle Officers investigate traffic collisions, enforce traffic laws to reduce traffic collisions and assist Patrol officers. The Accident Investigation Officers primary duties are the follow-up investigations on major traffic collisions and hit and run investigations.
During the Calendar Year 2011, there were a total of 2886 collision reports taken by the department. The Traffic Bureau took 75% of these.
Effective June 1, 2012, the Huntington Beach Police Department no longer investigates or documents most non-injury traffic collisions. This is primary due to budget constraints of the City and other options are available to those involved in a non-injury traffic collision.
If you are the victim of a hit and run, you can report this online
