Project Summary

The General Plan Update is comprised of the following six elements: Land Use, Circulation, Environmental Resources and Conservation, Natural and Environmental Hazards, Noise, and Infrastructure and Public Services. Each Element of the General Plan Update includes goals, policies, and implementation programs that create a roadmap for new housing and job growth, provide guidance for decision makers on allocating resources, and describe the utilization, management, and conservation of natural resources, public services, and infrastructure. The Historic and Cultural Resources, Housing, and Coastal Elements are not a part of the General Plan Update. The draft General Plan Update and Draft EIR, Fiscal Impact Analysis and associated technical studies and project materials developed to date are also available for review at the following website: http://www.hbthenextwave.org/.

The draft General Plan Update (GPU) and draft Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) are available for public review and comment from May 22, 2017 to July 7, 2017. Comments on the draft GPU and EIR should be addressed to:

EIR Public Comment Meeting
A public comment meeting will be held during the review period to take comments related to the adequacy of the environmental issues analyzed in the Draft EIR. The comment meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in Room B-7, City Hall - Lower Level located at 2000 Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92648.

Planning Commission Study Sessions
A series of Planning Commission study sessions will be held on the draft General Plan Update and EIR. Study sessions on the draft General Plan Update will be held on June 13, July 11, and July 25 at 5:15 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall - Lower Level, 2000 Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92648. The Planning Commission study session on the Draft EIR will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 5:15 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall - Lower Level.

Planning Commission and City Council Public Hearings
Subsequent to the comment period and Planning Commission study sessions, public hearings on the General Plan Update and Draft EIR will be scheduled for the Planning Commission and City Council. The public hearings will be separately noticed and are tentatively scheduled for August/September 2017.
