Demonstration Gardens

Central Library, 777 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach

A water wise demonstration garden was installed in the central library parking lot medians in late 2009. These pictures illustrates the complete transformation from barren land to beautiful medians requiring little water and maintenance.

2009 - Before the water wise garden was first planted the area consisted of hardpacked life-less soil that looked like a barren waste land.

2010 - The newly installed water wise plants are thriving with a 4 inch thick layer of mulch keeping the soil moist while adding organic material to the soil.

Did you know?
